Refreshing ftp.heanet.ie
Here’s a presentation I gave at the ILUG AGM on the new architecture powering ftp.heanet.ie; our well-known mirror server and consumer of copious amounts of bandwidth.

It is nice to hear of a site using Arista switches, especially one I use so often! How are you getting on with them so far?

They seem well up to the job. We’ve been running one of the nodes through a pair of Arista 10Gb/s switches for a couple of months without any issues at all. If you look at the front page, it’s the one using hardly any of it’s bandwidth! Configuration is basically cisco syntax, so the learning curve is also tiny.
I plan to connect up the remaining nodes in the next few weeks if I get time.
